Our Interior Painting Process:

Surface Preparation. The first and most important step to a quality paint job is properly preparing the surface. Although this step can sometimes take the most amount of time, cutting corners here will always result in a subpar paint job. We always take the time to make sure the preparation is done correctly, resulting in a beautiful, long lasting finish.

Moving and Protecting Furniture and Belongings. Your possessions are important to us, and protecting them is our priority. In most cases we will move or relocate to a central location, any furniture or belongings that may be in the way of us painting. All items are covered and protected with plastic sheeting. We may ask that you remove any breakable items such as plates, dishes or chinawear prior to us moving any furniture.

Repairing Drywall Defects and Caulking. Any unwanted nail holes, wall dents and scrapes are repaired, leaving a smooth seamless surface. Larger holes are repaired with a drywall patch or replaced with a new piece of wallboard. Areas where the drywall tape has let loose will be cut out and repaired with new tape and drywall compound. Areas that are textured and repaired will be re-textured to blend in with the surrounding area. All gaps and cracks in any trim, including baseboards, door frames, and window casings are filled with a high quality paintable siliconized caulking for a long lasting repair.

Smoothing Walls and Priming. We lightly sand all surfaces to knock down any high spots or debris embedded in previous coats of paint. Water stains and raw wood are primed using a stain blocking oil based primer. For dark wall colors such as red, a tinted primer may be used as a basecoat to aid in coverage of the top coat. There are many different primers and processes for each surface such as new drywall and plaster, using the correct primer will aid in the adhesion and beauty of the paint.

Painting. Now it’s time for the fun stuff. We have an organized method of how we paint, this provides a very efficient and safe way to work. Drop cloths are used to cover the floor wherever we will be painting. All paint cans are left in a centralized location to minimize any accidental spills. We begin by carefully cutting in around the ceiling, window frames, door frames and baseboards. We make sure our lines are clean and crisp. We will then fill in the rest of the wall by rolling the finish. 2 coats is usually recommended when doing a color change. We prefer to use high quality paints from manufacturers like Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore. We are equipped for brush, roll and spray capabilities.

Trim Painting. We use the same careful attention to detail when painting trim. All trim pieces are carefully hand brushed. A fresh coat of stain and polyurethane can be used to revitalize previously stained wood work.

Daily Clean Up. After the end of each workday, we clean up and restore your property to its original condition. Our equipment is organized and stored in a centralized location until the next work day. When we have completed painting your property, we will leave all extra paint with the home owner.
